The recent study by the DISCAP-ARAGON Research Group focused on disability, dependency, and social service use among an industrial population in Spain.

Key Findings:

  • Only 13.4% of disabled persons accessed residential or community care services.
  • The 2006 Dependency Act had limited impact on supporting non-professional carers and residential care.
  • 58% of severely disabled individuals did not utilize any social services, despite entitlement.

Implications for Disability Support Providers:

TorchCare acknowledges the study's revelations and aims to bridge the gap in service utilisation for individuals with disabilities.
